Airport Under
New Management
All airports within the Manchester Airport Group have been turned into
independent business units. Previously some support work was handled
away from Bournemouth but following new managerial appointments
everything is now controlled on site.
The new road layout on the B3073 is not proving popular and was not
what the airport management asked for. They are less than happy with
Dorset Council who had already demonstrated their competence levels by
saying they now didn’t need a waste recycling facility developed by the
airport in consultation with guess who – why the County Council,
naturally.
A new passenger “drop-off” charge of £2.50 comes into effect on 17th
April and will be levied on any car or taxi entering the airport access
road. So watch out for passengers being dropped off along the B3073, in
the entrance to the gravel pit, and who knows where else until Dorset
Council take steps to try to prevent it.

The Future of Christchurch Hospital
Our favourite hospital administrator Tony Spotswood has been organising
yet more consultations on the future of our local hospital and the
associated Macmillan Unit. Of the two options on offer, option one (the
one we favour) has received more than 50 times the number of votes than
option two and is supported by local GP practices, the Macmillan Trust,
and so on. We’re not betting on which option will be adopted.
If you haven’t yet expressed your preference or would like to read a
full account of our attendance at the various consultation meetings,
visit the website. If you care about the hospital please do make the
effort to vote.
